Space Force combat commander Lt. Gen. Gagnon headlining 2026 Spacepower Conference in Orlando

When the Space Force Association convenes its fourth annual Spacepower Conference this December, the officer responsible for ensuring Guardians are actually ready to fight will take the stage — a signal that readiness, not just technology, is the conference’s core theme this year.

The leader of the Space Force’s combat-ready force provider will join Guardians, joint and allied partners, and industry in Orlando, December 8-10

ORLANDO, FL, UNITED STATES, October 26, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — The Space Force Association (SFA) revealed that Lt. Gen. Gregory J. Gagnon, who commands the U.S. Space Force Combat Forces Command, is set to appear at Spacepower Conference (SPC26). The event is scheduled for December 8-10, 2026, at the Hilton Orlando, under the banner “The Decisive Edge.”

Gagnon has held his current post — headquartered at Peterson Space Force Base, Colorado — since November 2025. In that role, he oversees more than 12,000 Guardians and Airmen whose mission is to generate, present, and sustain combat-ready space control forces, global operations, and combat service support. As the Space Force’s service force provider, his portfolio includes sourcing, training, certifying, and assessing whether space forces are prepared for assignments given by service and combatant commanders.

His path to this leadership position is notable: a career intelligence officer with deep experience in cyberspace operations, Gagnon was commissioned through ROTC at Saint Michael’s College in Vermont. His command history spans squadron, group, and joint wing levels, including a tour in Afghanistan. Prior to his current assignment, he served as Special Assistant to the Chief of Space Operations and, before that, as Deputy Chief of Space Operations for Intelligence.

“Combat Forces Command is where readiness becomes real for the Guardians who go forward. Lt. Gen. Gagnon leads the Guardians and Airmen who generate those forces, and we are glad he will join us. The Decisive Edge starts with forces that are ready to fight,” said Damon Feltman, CEO of the Space Force Association.

Now in its fourth year, Spacepower Conference draws the full spacepower ecosystem together — Guardians at every rank, joint and allied warfighters, industry innovators and investors, plus the next wave of space professionals. This year’s agenda stretches across five stages and includes senior leader keynotes, operational debriefs from the field, and discussions covering artificial intelligence, space nuclear power, in-space servicing and refueling, and the Golden Dome mandate. SPC26 also serves as the closing event for America’s 250th anniversary year.

Why it matters: With Gagnon headlining, SPC26 puts a spotlight on the operational side of space warfare — the human and logistical backbone behind America’s orbital ambitions. As the conference closes out the nation’s 250th anniversary, the emphasis on ready-to-fight forces underscores how seriously the Space Force is taking its role in modern defense.
