FDLA united designers for five days of runway showcases, cultural programming, editorial festivities and industry initiatives across New York City.
My goal is for Latin American designers to gain visibility, but beyond that, I want that exposure to translate into connections, commercial deals & lasting international expansion.”— Albania Rosario FDLA Founder & CEO
NEW YORK, NY, UNITED STATES, September 16, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — Fashion Designers of Latin America (FDLA) brought its New York Fashion Week SS/2027 season to a close following five days of programming throughout New York City, reinforcing the organization’s dedication to building a global stage for both recognized and up-and-coming Latin American designers.
Held September 11–15, the FDLA itinerary went beyond the conventional runway format, merging fashion, culture, media, business and community through a series of gatherings hosted at venues such as El Cielo NY, Lavan Midtown, The Theater at United Palace, INNSiDE by Meliá New York Nomad and the Marcas Latam Showroom.
The season kicked off September 11 with an intimate cocktail reception and showcase featuring celebrated Spanish designer Agatha Ruiz de la Prada, establishing the tone for a week highlighted by artistry, vibrancy and cross-cultural dialogue.
On September 12, FDLA marked the launch of the September edition of FDLA Spotlight Magazine, the organization’s official editorial outlet, during a private event at INNSiDE by Meliá New York Nomad with Sofia Vergara gracing the cover.
Latin American Designers Hit the Catwalk
September 13 featured one of the season’s biggest runway showcases at Lavan Midtown, opening with PUENTE Internacional, sponsored by the Bogotá Chamber of Commerce. The presentation featured Bogotá-based labels Ciento Cinco Lunares, Tan Basicx, Clarissa Rosania, Day Moda Sostenible, Franchi e Punto and OVAT, bringing Colombian ingenuity and entrepreneurship to the New York Fashion Week platform.
The night progressed with FDLA’s international runway presentations showcasing designers and labels from various Latin American nations, including Starling de Holma of the Dominican Republic, Ashley Stambouli of Venezuela, Jaspe by Vito of Guatemala, Idol Jose of Venezuela, Mónica Schuster of Colombia, Eugenia Lemos of Chile, GIPCCO of Argentina, Carlos Sierra of Venezuela and Virgilio Madinah of Colombia.
Together, these showcases illustrated the breadth of modern Latin American fashion—spanning emerging brands and independent artistic voices to designers growing their footprint in the global marketplace.
FDLA Takes Over the Historic United Palace
On September 14, FDLA headed uptown to The Theater at United Palace for its culminating Immersive Runway and Performance Show, bringing fashion into one of New York City’s most iconic cultural venues.
The event featured The Life of Giannina Azar, reinventing the classic runway experience with fashion and a piano performance by Maria del Sol while honoring the Dominican designer’s work in front of an audience that reached beyond the fashion sphere and into the local New York community.
The United Palace program was preceded by an FDLA press gathering welcoming media and industry attendees.
For FDLA, staging its final event in Washington Heights represented a key element of the organization’s wider mission: linking international Latin American fashion with the communities whose culture and legacy have helped define New York City.
From Runway to Retail
The SS/2027 schedule concluded September 15 at Marcas Latam Showroom with the FDLA Buy the Runway popup event, connecting participating designers with industry professionals and shoppers.
The initiative underscored a growing priority in FDLA’s work: generating opportunities that extend beyond the runway.
Through FDLA and Marcas Latam, its fashion showroom and commercial platform, the organization is striving to link Latin American brands with buyers, consumers and fresh prospects in the United States and beyond.
“For us, New York Fashion Week has never been just about staging a runway show. It’s about creating a bridge. We want Latin American designers to be seen, but more importantly, we want that visibility to lead to relationships, business opportunities and sustainable international growth,” said Albania Rosario, Founder and President of Fashion Designers of Latin America.
The September season also highlighted FDLA’s ongoing commitment to collaboration across the fashion sector, media, cultural organizations, community groups and international allies.
FDLA’s SS/2027 New York Fashion Week programming was backed by partners and collaborators including Marcas Latam, United Palace, Hispanic Federation, the Office of New York City Council Member Carmen De La Rosa, INNSiDE by Meliá New York Nomad, and participating institutional and venue partners.
