Scheduled for Nov. 16–18 in Renton, Washington, the 2026 AMPP Western Conference will unite corrosion and coatings specialists to explore how materials, technologies, and protection methods hold up under far-from-ordinary circumstances.
Organized by the AMPP Greater Puget Sound Chapter, the event centers on Extreme Environments: Managing Challenges for Land, Maritime and Offshore Infrastructure. Asset owners, operators, engineers, contractors, inspectors, manufacturers, and technical experts will exchange practical strategies for corrosion management, coatings effectiveness, and sustained asset reliability in demanding operational settings.
“Extreme environments reveal vulnerabilities quickly, whether it’s marine exposure, hard-to-reach locations, remote equipment, or harsh working conditions,” stated Mobiltex’s Peter Harkins, who serves as Conference Chair. “This gathering gives those confronting these issues the ability to swap insights, see what’s proving effective in practice, and forge connections with peers addressing comparable problems across different industries.”
Technical Agenda Links Challenges Across Multiple Sectors
Instead of examining extreme environments from just one industry’s perspective, the Western Conference will draw on expertise spanning land-based, maritime, offshore, and industrial infrastructure.
Planned technical sessions cover cathodic protection and corrosion management; coatings, linings, and inspection; fleet preparedness and maritime/offshore issues; material selection, weld integrity, and cracking; drones, robotics, and cutting-edge technologies; power generation, rail, and industrial infrastructure; workforce training and safety; and region-specific concerns.
“While conditions differ from one asset or sector to another, the underlying materials performance questions are largely common,” noted TC Energy’s Tim Harding, Technical Chair. “The agenda is structured to bridge field knowledge with practical solutions and emerging innovations, allowing attendees to bring useful takeaways back to the assets and programs they oversee.”
Full conference packages include technical sessions, networking breaks, two exhibit hall receptions, lunch, and Professional Development Hours (PDHs).
Additionally, a rectifier course led by Don Olson of Mobiltex Data Inc. will run alongside the conference on Nov. 16. The session pairs classroom instruction with hands-on troubleshooting, covering rectifier operation, functions, and fundamental diagnostic techniques.
Uniting the Corrosion and Coatings Community
The Hyatt Regency Lake Washington will host the conference, housing technical presentations, exhibits, and networking functions under one roof.
Early registration for the conference remains open through Oct. 19, 2026, with the hotel room reservation cutoff set for Oct. 26, 2026.
