MIAMI, FL, UNITED STATES, November 2, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — A fleeting intimate moment on screen can be the product of extensive discussion, rehearsal, and formal agreements behind the camera. That hidden labor is the subject of “The Body in Performance: Intimacy, Consent, and Dramatic Truth in Contemporary Cinema,” a session led by Constanza Espejo and presented by the Ibero-American Film Festival Miami (IAFFM) together with We Art Foundation under the festival’s Semillero program.
Scheduled for Saturday, November 7, at 5:30 p.m., the talk will be held at the Koubek Center. There is no charge to attend, and seating is limited.
The Work Behind an Intimate Scene
On productions involving nudity, simulated sex, and other intimate or exposed bodily content, intimacy coordinators work alongside directors, producers, and performers. Their responsibilities range from reviewing scripts and helping each performer set clear agreements and boundaries to collaborating on choreography and supporting the shoot so that consent and agreed conditions are maintained throughout.
Espejo holds this position on Emergencias. Unidad de Vida, the Telemundo medical series shot in Miami. In her session, she will walk attendees through how intimacy coordination fits into the creative process, covering both preproduction and filming.
Aimed at audiovisual professionals and students, as well as anyone curious about how such scenes come together, the talk will address:
For directors: translating an artistic vision into clear, repeatable actions that support truthful performances.
For producers: when to bring in an intimacy coordinator and how to incorporate the role into production planning.
For actors: communicating boundaries, establishing agreements, and maintaining consent throughout rehearsals and filming.
An open conversation with the audience will follow the presentation, exploring the questions, resistance, and creative possibilities surrounding this profession.
A Perspective Shaped by Acting and Directing
An Argentine actress and director who lives in Miami, Espejo speaks from direct experience of both a performer’s vulnerability and a director’s responsibility. Her acting work has taken her across Argentina, Spain, Mexico, and the United States, and she has directed more than 35 theatrical productions in Miami, Los Angeles, Buenos Aires, and Madrid.
At the 2024 BroadwayWorld Miami Metro Awards, she won Best Performer in a Play for her role in Area Stage’s Las Marcas del Mar (Sea Marks), starring opposite Mariano Chiesa.
She is presently directing Hope Station, a production with 18 actors and original music, set to premiere in Miami on December 6, 2026.
Espejo wrote Del texto a la verdad. Técnica Meisner + Recursos Combinados, which is available on Amazon, and is a certified Meisner Technique instructor. Her teaching credits include Barry University, Instituto Cervantes, and Miami Dade College’s Koubek Center.
Hosting the Closing Awards Ceremony
Beyond the talk, Espejo will co-host IAFFM’s closing awards ceremony with festival director Fernando Arciniega on Saturday, November 14, at 6 p.m. at the Koubek Center.

Why it matters: Intimacy coordination is still a relatively new role in many productions, and free public sessions like this one give directors, producers, and performers a rare chance to understand how consent and choreography can coexist with creative ambition. With Espejo bringing experience from both sides of the camera — and from a Telemundo set filmed in Miami — the talk signals how the region’s Spanish-language industry is formalizing practices around on-set safety and collaboration.
