Canada’s health technology community is converging on Calgary next week, and the demand for real-world innovation has never been more evident — the exhibition floor for the third annual Canada HealthTech Innovation Symposium is completely sold out.
Seeing the exhibition floor sell out and this calibre of speakers on stage tells us the appetite for practical, real-world health innovation in Canada has never been stronger.”— Rahul Bhatia, Founder & CEO, Prolink Events Ltd.CALGARY, ALBERTA, CANADA, October 30, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — The Canada HealthTech Innovation Symposium (CHTIS) is set to hold its third edition on November 4–5, 2026, at the Calgary TELUS Convention Centre, bringing together health system executives, frontline clinicians, investors, researchers, startup founders and technology vendors from coast to coast. Across the two-day agenda, attendees will take part in keynote addresses, panel discussions, fireside chats and a live exhibition. With the exhibition floor at full capacity and only a handful of delegate passes still up for grabs, organizers say this year’s gathering is on track to be the biggest in the event’s history. For context, the 2025 edition drew 402 participants — 282 of whom came from industry — while this year’s program boasts more than 60 speakers.
The event is led by Alberta Innovates as the powering partner, with Cherry Health co-powering, Sunco serving as Exclusive Healthcare Communication & IT Partner and DOC247 as Exclusive Accessible Healthcare Partner. The program’s direction is shaped by Panel Partners including Alberta Health Services, Primary Care Alberta, Health Shared Services, League, Tomaco Medical Solutions, Patient Voice Partners, Reclaim Rehabilitation Consulting, Enceladus Ventures and the Mount Royal University Centre for Health and Innovation in Aging. Additional support comes from Exhibition & Panel Partners TELUS Health, AltaML, WELLSTAR and Eventium, plus Presentation Partners RUNWITHIT Synthetics and Canadian Sport Institute Alberta.
In a formal welcome to attendees, the Honourable Adriana LaGrange, Alberta’s Minister of Hospital and Surgical Health Services, praised the province’s growing health technology ecosystem. “Alberta’s health technology sector is strong and growing, and our government is proud to support innovation that improves care,” said Minister LaGrange, highlighting the Health Innovation Lab with the Alberta Machine Intelligence Institute, investments in AI-enabled MRI technology and the expansion of robotic-assisted surgery. She also urged delegates to forge new collaborations with patients, families and health-care professionals throughout the event. Read the Minister’s full greeting.
Day One (Wednesday, November 4) kicks off with a keynote from Cheryl Holden, Vice President, Health Innovation at Alberta Innovates, titled “A National Stage for Health Innovation.” The spotlight then shifts to one of the most eagerly awaited sessions of the year, “Innovation in a Refocused Health System,” featuring Andre Tremblay, Interim President & CEO of Alberta Health Services; Kim Simmonds, CEO of Primary Care Alberta; Maureen Towle, Interim CEO of Health Shared Services; and Dr. Brad Bahler of Health Innovation Group. The rest of the day covers AI in health and clinical decision support; capital and investment strategies for health tech founders, with Yaletown Partners, BDC, Enceladus Ventures, PulseMedica and Flora; mental health innovation and digital therapeutics; and “From Pilot to Province,” a session on scaling proven technologies to system-wide deployment.
A key moment on Day One is The Big Cheque: a sealed envelope made out to Canada’s health tech founders, secured by Prolink Events Ltd. and opened live on November 4 by the investors participating in the “Capital, Investors & The Business of HealthTech” panel. There’s no cash prize and no pitch contest — what’s inside remains a mystery until the moment it’s revealed on stage.
Day Two (Thursday, November 5) opens with the keynote “Human by Design — Building AI for Mental Health, Safety & Wellbeing” from international speaker Scharliina Eräpuro, followed by a fireside chat on interoperability, cybersecurity and health data trust. Additional panels explore AI beyond the clinic with TELUS Health, League and WaitWell; telemedicine, virtual care and remote patient monitoring, moderated by the Medical Director of AHS Virtual Health; MedTech and healthcare robotics, featuring neuroArm lead Dr. Garnette Sutherland; healthcare workforce pipelines; and aging-in-place, women’s health and inclusive digital care. The symposium wraps with a cocktail reception on the exhibition floor.
“CHTIS was built to put everyone who shapes Canadian healthcare in the same room — the leaders running the system, the clinicians using the tools, the investors funding them and the companies building them,” said Rahul Bhatia, Founder & CEO, Prolink Events Ltd. “Seeing the exhibition floor sell out and this calibre of speakers on stage tells us the appetite for practical, real-world health innovation in Canada has never been stronger. We look forward to welcoming everyone to Calgary next week.”
“We are very proud to be a part of the CHTIS, which brings innovators, practitioners and policy makers together in one space. When we all come together with the joint mission of growth and collaboration, amazing things can happen. Why it matters: A sold-out exhibition floor and a speaker roster featuring top provincial health executives signal that Canada’s health system is moving beyond pilot projects toward real, scalable technology adoption. With AI, robotics and virtual care taking center stage, the conversations in Calgary next week could shape how health innovation is funded and deployed across the country for years to come.
