Eltropy CEO Ashish Garg wins executive leadership award as AI powers 750 credit unions

The recognition of a company’s founder at an industry awards gala often signals more than just individual achievement—it can mark a turning point for an entire sector. When Ashish Garg, founder and CEO of Eltropy, accepted the Technology Vendor winner in the Executive Leadership: Industry Partners category at the 2026 Credit Union Times Luminaries Awards, the honor reflected a real shift: artificial intelligence has moved from experimental projects to the everyday operations of hundreds of financial institutions.

Credit Union Times recognizes Eltropy’s founder & CEO for putting AI to work at more than 750 credit unions and community banks

I’m grateful to Credit Union Times for this honor, and I share it with our team and with the credit unions and community banks that trusted us to put AI in front of their members.”— Ashish Garg, Founder and CEO, Eltropy

Announced Thursday night at the awards gala in Orlando, Garg was one of 27 winners chosen from a pool of 231 finalists. The honor specifically highlights his success in expanding Eltropy’s AI-powered communications technology across more than 750 credit unions and community banks, taking AI tools out of pilot programs and embedding them into daily workflows.

“Ashish Garg has led Eltropy from AI experimentation to everyday use at more than 750 credit unions and community banks,” said Michael Ogden, senior director of content experience and strategy at Credit Union Times. “His leadership shows how AI can deliver measurable outcomes for credit unions while strengthening the relationships their members value.”

The real-world impact is already visible in the numbers. At Credit Union of Texas, an AI voice agent named Sam now independently handles 60% of all member interactions. Cobalt Credit Union has achieved 83% session containment, meaning the vast majority of member issues are resolved without human escalation. Loyalty Credit Union, meanwhile, cut its average chat session time by 40%. This year, Eltropy launched its Agentic AI Platform, purpose-built for credit unions, featuring more than 50 system integrations and a Safe AI Framework that logs and authorizes every action an AI agent takes, within boundaries each institution sets itself. The company now serves more than 750 credit unions and community banks.

“I’m grateful to Credit Union Times for this honor, and I share it with our team and with the credit unions and community banks that trusted us to put AI in front of their members,” said Garg. “I started Eltropy because a credit union loan officer looked past my thin credit file when the banks wouldn’t. Agentic AI should give every credit union employee more time for that kind of judgment, and our customers are showing every day that it can be done safely.”

Garg co-founded Eltropy in 2013. Earlier this year, the company was named to the Inc. 5000 list of America’s fastest-growing private companies for the fifth consecutive year.

Credit Union Times has published the full list of 2026 Luminaries Awards winners.

Why it matters: The shift from AI experimentation to daily deployment at more than 750 financial institutions shows that agentic AI is no longer a futuristic concept but a practical tool for improving member service and operational efficiency. As credit unions and community banks continue to adopt these systems, the challenge will be balancing automation with the human judgment that Garg himself credits for his company’s founding—a balance that Eltropy’s Safe AI Framework aims to maintain.
