Founder and editor Devin Esser has received accreditation for Fantastic Fest 2026, scheduled for September 17–24 at Alamo Drafthouse South Lamar in Austin, Texas.
Celebrating its 21st iteration, Fantastic Fest stands as the biggest genre film festival in the United States, uniting veteran directors, new voices, and passionate fans around horror, fantasy, science fiction, action, and other genre-pushing cinema. The 2026 lineup includes 73 feature films and episodic works, featuring world, North American, and U.S. premieres. Fantastic Fest also arrives at a pivotal time for its longtime venue, Alamo Drafthouse Cinema. Sony Pictures Entertainment purchased Alamo Drafthouse in 2024, folding the theater chain and Fantastic Fest into its Sony Pictures Experiences division. This summer, Sony and Alamo revealed plans to restore and reopen Hollywood’s historic Cinerama Dome and nearby theater complex, giving Alamo’s distinctive theatrical model a new West Coast flagship.
