Eron Zehavi, Entrepreneur and Transformational Coach

Ryan Garney and Eron Zehavi offer separate yet complementary strategies for handling stress, sorrow, and the narratives people create when life falls apart

The difference between survival and collapse isn't strength or preparation. It's containment. We can't stop life from hitting us like an iceberg, but we can stop it from consuming us.”— Ryan Garney, TEDxBeverlyGrove 2026WEST HOLLYWOOD, CA, UNITED STATES, August 26, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — TEDx Talks has published two presentations from the TEDxBeverlyGrove 2026 speaker series, both tackling a topic that many leadership discussions tend to avoid: not how to avert crisis, but how to endure it without losing yourself in the process.

These talks, given on March 14, 2026, at the Marilyn Monroe Theatre in West Hollywood under the theme "Reimagining the Possible," approach that subject from varied perspectives and across different fields. Together, they provide compatible methods for performing under pressure, distinguishing reality from interpretation, and selecting a response when life no longer goes according to plan.

Ryan Garney: Mental Bulkheads

Creative operations leader and Toastmasters World Championship competitor Ryan Garney began his presentation with a historical query that most people cannot answer. Almost everyone knows the Titanic. Far fewer recognize the Olympic, her nearly identical sister vessel, which endured a serious collision and made it back to port without losing anyone.

The key difference, Garney contended, was not the extent of the harm. It was containment.

His talk, "Mental Bulkheads: Why the Olympic Survived and the Titanic Didn't, and What That Teaches Us About Leading Through Crisis," uses his own experience of handling his father's death while simultaneously establishing an animation studio at a major entertainment company. He explains what he once thought was compartmentalization and what he later realized was something else entirely.

Suppression.

The talk introduces a method for deliberate emotional sequencing, backed by neuroscience, and offers a practical approach to thinking about crisis before it takes control. The Olympic, Garney noted in closing, remained in service for 24 more years after her collision. She earned the nickname Old Reliable. Not because she was never struck. Because she understood which doors to shut.

Ryan Garney's talk is now available on the TEDx Talks YouTube channel.

Eron Zehavi: Paralysis Is a State of Mind

Entrepreneur and transformational coach Eron Zehavi opened his talk by informing the audience that he was paralyzed. Then he told them they probably were too.

Zehavi suffered a spinal cord injury at age 38, with two young children at home. What followed was not a story of recovery. It was a structure for understanding why many people stay stuck not because of their situations, but because of the narratives they create about them.

His talk, "Paralysis Is a State of Mind: How Meaning Shapes What's Possible," argues that facts and stories are not the same thing. A spinal cord injury is a fact. "My life is over" is a story. The confusion between the two, Zehavi argued, is where most people become trapped and where most people have more control than they realize.

He presented the ART Process, Acknowledge, Reframe, Transform, a framework for separating what is known from what the mind decides it means, and for selecting a narrative that is both logically sound and emotionally meaningful.

"Massive impostor syndrome, fear of rejection, self doubt, limiting beliefs, low self worth. All of them types of paralysis. No wheelchair required." – Eron Zehavi, TEDxBeverlyGrove 2026

Eron Zehavi's talk is now available on the TEDx Talks YouTube channel.

Two Talks. One Argument.

Garney and Zehavi did not plan their talks together. They reached the same stage from different backgrounds, different fields, and different forms of loss. What unites them is the distinction both make between what occurs to a person and what a person decides it means.

One speaker closed his bulkheads and kept moving forward. The other stopped mistaking paralysis for circumstance. Both left the same stage having provided the audience with something they could use before they exited the venue.

Both talks are now available as part of the TEDxBeverlyGrove 2026 speaker series on the TEDx Talks YouTube channel.
