Experts from multiple fields will come together for a discussion on the relationship between scientific agreement, democratic processes, and the climate emergency.

NEW YORK, NY, UNITED STATES, September 22, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — This coming Wednesday, Stand Up for Science is set to present a free public conversation, “Science, Democracy and Climate,” in Midtown as a key event for New York Climate Week 2026. The session will unite prominent figures from climate research, political thought, and science advocacy to address a central issue of our era: the challenge that arises when scientific findings and democratic processes move in opposite directions.

The discussion will be guided by Dr. Colette Delawalla, who serves as CEO and Founder of Stand Up for Science. Joining her will be Dr. Ticora Jones, the Chief Science Officer for the Natural Resources Defense Council, along with Dr. Michael Mann, a climate scientist from the University of Pennsylvania.

During the event, the speakers will have an open dialogue about the connections between scientific agreement, democratic systems, and the climate emergency. They will explore the reasons democratic institutions often lag behind the urgency of scientific findings and consider the steps required to close the divide between evidence and policy. Those in attendance will have the chance to submit their own questions throughout the session.

For those unable to attend in person, the panel will be broadcast live on Stand Up for Science’s YouTube channel, and a recording will be accessible afterward for on-demand viewing.

Admission to the event is free and open to all. Individuals interested in participating can secure their place by following the link provided below.
