Attend the State of the Healthcare Summit on Thursday, Sept. 17, 2026, where Lindsey Dwyer-Tong will present a new program designed to aid physicians in crisis.
Doctors devote their entire careers to looking after patients, yet when the burden becomes overwhelming, who looks after them?
Lindsey Dwyer-Tong, LCSW, who founded LT Clinical Consulting & Concierge Services, is tackling that issue through the creation of the Physicians Resiliency Program. This initiative offers doctors confidential, individualized clinical support, crisis intervention, care coordination, and specialized guidance for burnout, moral injury, addiction, and other complex issues that impact their health, relationships, performance, or careers.
At the State of Health Care Summit on Thursday, September 17, 2026, from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m., Dwyer-Tong will present this program to physicians, healthcare executives, medical organizations, and community leaders. The summit, which is hosted by the Ventura County Medical Association and the Moorpark Chamber of Commerce, will take place at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley, California, and will convene healthcare and community leaders to explore the future of medicine and partnership opportunities.

This initiative stems from Dwyer-Tong’s personal family background. Her father, an emergency-room doctor, dedicated his professional life to guiding patients through their most terrifying experiences. When he required specialized assistance, Dwyer-Tong found that the support systems for physicians were disjointed.
“My father spent his entire career assisting individuals during the most terrifying episodes of their lives,” says Dwyer-Tong. “When he was the one needing help, he met a fragmented system that wasn’t built to comprehend the true challenges of being a doctor. That experience uncovered a deep care gap and laid the groundwork for this program.”
Physicians routinely face life-and-death decisions, long hours, patient deaths, adverse outcomes, administrative demands, and intense professional expectations,” Dwyer-Tong noted. “The Physicians Resiliency Program responds to the cumulative impact of these experiences by providing confidential clinical support, crisis intervention, care coordination, and specialized guidance when a physician’s health concerns intersect with licensing, credentialing, employment, or legal matters.
“This is not a resilience deficit,” she explains. “Physicians are already extraordinarily resilient. The problem is that resilience does not make someone immune to trauma, grief, addiction, family strain, or the psychological consequences of practicing medicine under sustained pressure.”
The Physicians Resiliency Program establishes a single entry point for physicians and, where appropriate, their families. Offerings may include psychotherapy for California physicians, trauma treatment, crisis assessment, addiction-treatment coordination, individualized treatment planning, clinical case management, family support, forensic mental health consultation, and more.
“Physicians should not have to choose between protecting their careers and protecting their mental health,” Dwyer-Tong states. “Effective support must account for both.”
The Physicians Resiliency Program views physicians as whole individuals and delivers confidential clinical support, crisis intervention, care coordination, and specialized guidance when health concerns intersect with licensing, credentialing, employment, or legal matters. By addressing both clinical needs and professional realities, the program closes the gap between crisis and coordinated care for those who dedicate their lives to caring for others.
“My father’s experience gave this work purpose,” Dwyer-Tong remarks. “I cannot change the fact that the resource he needed did not exist at the time. I can help build it now, so another physician and another family do not have to navigate a crisis alone.”
