OAKLAND, CA, UNITED STATES, August 27, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — Residents of the Bay Area who are thinking about adding an accessory dwelling unit can discover their possibilities in person at the Bay Area ADU Expo Fall 2026, scheduled for September 26–27 at The Bridge Yard in Oakland. This complimentary public event will provide attendees with direct interactions with planning officials, instructional talks, ADU specialists, and full-size units they can physically enter.

Whether a homeowner requires extra room for relatives, rental earnings, guest stays, or a designated home workplace, an ADU offers increased flexibility. Yet considering an ADU prompts inquiries about design, permits, financing, building, and utility connections. At the Bay Area ADU Expo, homeowners can evaluate different strategies and pose questions without struggling to sift through online material.

Homeowners can obtain information straight from the San Francisco Planning Department and the City of Oakland Planning & Building Department. On Saturday, San Francisco Planning will run an information booth and an instructional talk, while Oakland Planning & Building will address queries about local permit requirements and procedures. Their involvement is for educational purposes only and does not represent an endorsement of the Expo, its exhibitors, or any participating companies.
Attendees will also have the opportunity to step inside full-scale units provided by Pacifica Tiny Homes, Epic Modulars, Tiny Home Cottages, Origin Studio, and Velux. Walking through a completed unit offers homeowners a tangible grasp of dimensions and arrangement that floor plans alone cannot convey.

Across the weekend, educational workshops will break down the real-world choices involved in planning an ADU—covering design, financing, permits, construction, utility coordination, and fire safety. On Sunday, Trisha Guido from the ADU Center will staff an information table and deliver a talk. This organization supplies impartial guidance to assist homeowners in planning and constructing an ADU.

Sylvia Aguilar of Casita Coalition will also present ADU Basics in 2026: What Homeowners Need to Know. Build It Green will present on Sunday and share details about its housing and sustainability efforts. Attendees can also engage directly with builders, designers, lenders, tech firms, and housing professionals regarding the options suited to their projects.

“There’s a big difference between reading about ADUs and being able to walk through one, ask a specific question and talk directly with people who work through these issues every day,” said Convo Events LLC. “We want homeowners to leave with a clearer understanding of their options and a better sense of what they need to consider next.”

The Expo will also feature areas to take a break between talks and tours. MasayaCo will convert The Bridge Yard terrace into an outdoor lounge furnished with its award-winning pieces, where attendees can unwind, enjoy beverages, and connect with representatives. Visitors can also enter complimentary MasayaCo gift-card drawings on both public days.

The Bay Area ADU Expo Fall 2026 will welcome the public from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 26, and from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 27, at The Bridge Yard, 210 Burma Road, Oakland, California 94607.

Admission is free of charge. Though pre-registration is recommended to guarantee entry and expedite event check-in, walk-in guests are also allowed. Event information and sign-up are available at bayareaaduexpo.com.

This Oakland event follows the first Bay Area ADU Expo held in San Jose earlier in 2026, which attracted over 1,800 attendees and more than 35 exhibitors.
