Author Amy Schisler is rejoicing over a fresh literary accolade following her children’s book, A Very Loud Christmas, being awarded First Place in the BooksShelf July 2026 Awards. This honor highlights Schisler’s touching tale of a family whose unique traits make them stand out in their peaceful mountain community—and how those very characteristics eventually rescue the day.
“I am thrilled that we took the prize,” Schisler remarks. “I particularly want to express gratitude to Emily for her artwork. I am delighted that A Very Loud Christmas comes recommended to parents.”
In A Very Loud Christmas, readers meet Crash, Belle, Carol, Thor, and Joy—the Loud siblings. These children adore laughing, singing, and living life at full volume, yet the neighboring families in their serene mountain hamlet fail to comprehend them. As a result of their distinctiveness, the other kids are forbidden from playing with the Loud family.
But everything shifts one Christmas when young Johnny Thompson goes missing in the forest. The community must then depend on the Loud family to bring him back safely. Via its endearing and recognizable characters, A Very Loud Christmas imparts messages about tolerance, camaraderie, and devotion.
“I created this book to instruct others on the importance of staying true to oneself. Often we are told that we need to alter our identity to gain acceptance, but that is false. A Very Loud Christmas shows kids the worth of embracing who they are,” Schisler observes.
Schisler is presently collaborating with Emily on a new project titled Tucker, the Happy Dog, which presents readers with Tucker, a remarkable canine who encounters a newborn arriving home to the family for the first time.
“My narratives address real-world topics that parents can share and talk about with their kids in an enjoyable yet substantial manner,” Schisler states. “Tucker, the Happy Dog reflects a scenario many households encounter. Using imagination and wit, I demonstrate to parents that bringing a new infant into the home with a pet can be both enjoyable and straightforward.”
Schisler is also releasing another book this October called Limestone and Lace, the newest entry in the award-winning Buffalo Springs series. This romantic suspense title is currently available for pre-order.
“I am eager to launch Limestone and Lace. Buffalo Springs represents a haven of family, faith, and safety. Serena Blake is heading back to Buffalo Springs to begin anew, yet her history refuses to let her be in this thrilling narrative,” Schisler remarks.
