Creator-first webcomics platform PopJoy CEO meeting artists, attendees, and press at L.A. Comic Con, October 30 to November 1, at Los Angeles Convention Center
When a startup CEO chooses a massive fan convention over a quiet office to launch his company’s public push, it signals a bet on grassroots energy over polished press releases. That bet is exactly what PopJoy co-founder and CEO Pete Ragias is making this weekend at the 15th Los Angeles Comic Con. From October 30 through November 1 at the Los Angeles Convention Center, Ragias isn’t just walking the floor—he’s actively hunting for new creators and introducing the PopJoy webcomics platform to attendees, artists, and journalists alike.
“I am so excited to attend my first Comic Con as the CEO of PopJoy, to meet potential new creators who can come and join our Pop Squad community,” said Ragias. PopJoy, accessible at popjoy.app, is a webcomics platform designed specifically for comic creators. It sets itself apart by allowing artists to add a little “pop”—a touch of movement—to their hand-drawn panels, and by ensuring creators are monetized from the moment they publish. At Comic Con, Ragias will be meeting with writers and artists ready to share their stories with a growing audience, as well as with fans and press eager to learn more.

“Los Angeles Comic Con is where comics creators and fans come together, which makes it the right place to meet the people PopJoy was built for,” Ragias explained. “I’m here to listen to creators, hear their stories, and show them what a creator-first platform can look like.”
The timing of the convention is notable: it falls during National Arts and Humanities Month, a fitting moment to celebrate the artists and storytellers behind the comics people love. The event concludes on Halloween, adding a whimsical end to what Ragias calls a tremendous formal start for the platform.
Who PopJoy Is Looking to Meet
Ragias is extending an open invitation to comic creators, illustrators, and writers of every style and experience level. He encourages them to stop by, bring a sample of their work, and learn how to share their stories on PopJoy. Media members and general attendees are also welcome to say hello, see the platform in action, and ask questions. Those hoping to find Ragias can send a message to the @PopJoy Instagram page; interview requests from the press are welcome throughout the weekend.

Why it matters: PopJoy’s in-person recruitment at a major convention underscores how niche platforms are competing for talent in an increasingly crowded digital comics market. By offering instant monetization and animated panel features, the company is betting that creators will trade established platforms for one that prioritizes their financial and creative freedom from day one.
